Stephen Attenborough is one of the pioneering minds behind commercial space travel. As the former Chief Customer Officer at Virgin Galactic and a current Board Member and Trustee for Virgin Unite US, his name is closely linked with opening space to private individuals.
In 2004, at the personal invitation of Sir Richard Branson, Stephen joined Virgin Galactic as employee number one. His mission: lay the commercial foundation for the world’s first spaceline. He later became the company’s Chief Customer Officer, leading the design and delivery of a customer journey that culminated in the transformative experience of spaceflight.
Over 18 extraordinary years, Stephen helped guide Virgin Galactic from concept to history-making reality. His tenure peaked with Richard Branson’s trip to space and Virgin Galactic’s $3 billion listing on the NYSE—the first ever for a human spaceflight company. Today, he continues to support the Virgin vision as a Board Member of Virgin Unite, the group’s charitable foundation.
