Spencer Kelly is the BBC’s longest-serving and most experienced technology presenter and journalist. Since 2006, he has hosted Click, the BBC’s flagship technology TV programme. Over more than 20 years, he has travelled the world, marveling at how science and innovation transform people’s lives.
His academic achievements include a double first in Computer Science from Cambridge and an Honorary Doctorate in Technology. But that’s just the start of his accolades. Spencer won the T3 Tech Personality of the Year award. He finished a close second on Celebrity Mastermind. He has also fronted Panorama and presented at the BAFTAs.
Spencer has hosted three world-first TV shows. He led the world’s first 360-degree show in virtual reality, and presented the first TV show filmed and edited solely on phones and tablets. He even starred in the world’s first multi-choice factual programme, where viewers choose their path through the story.
His lifelong passion for science and tech has taken him on incredible adventures. He played ping-pong against a robot in Japan, explored the Large Hadron Collider, and was rescued by a robot lifeguard. Spencer also discovered how one simple SIM card changed lives in African townships.
Spencer has interviewed some of the biggest names in business and culture. These include Bill Gates, James Cameron, Paul McCartney, Will.I.Am, Brian Eno, Julian Assange, Edward Snowden, David Attenborough, Stephen Fry—and he even talked tech with HM Queen Elizabeth II.
