BIO

Roger Spitz is a top-ranked futurist and global authority on strategic foresight, artificial intelligence, and systemic disruption. He serves as President of Techistential and Chair of the Disruptive Futures Institute in San Francisco. In these roles, he advises CEOs, institutional investors, and government leaders on anticipating and navigating disruption. He also contributes to the World Economic Forum’s Global Foresight Network and is recognised as a Global Top Voice in Management Leadership on Thinkers360.

Importantly, his foresight rests on experience at the frontier of finance and technology. As Global Head of Technology M&A at BNP Paribas, he led more than 50 transactions worth $25 billion. During this time, he built the bank’s U.S. M&A platform in San Francisco. He also launched its European Digital Corporate Finance practice, strengthening its digital advisory capabilities.

Building on this foundation, Roger evolved from elite advisor to influential public voice. He translates complex systemic disruption into clear narratives that guide both strategy and public debate. As a result, global media outlets such as CNN regularly feature his insights. He also writes on artificial intelligence for MIT Technology Review. Furthermore, he coined the term “Techistentialism” to frame human agency in the age of intelligent machines.

At the same time, he actively supports frontier innovation as a venture partner at Berkeley SkyDeck and Vektor Partners. He also serves on the World Economic Forum’s AI Global Alliance, shaping global dialogue on responsible AI. As a bestselling author of five books, including the multi-award-winning Disrupt With Impact, he equips leaders with practical tools. Notably, he developed the widely adopted AAA Framework: Antifragility, Anticipatory, and Agility.

Extending this work into geopolitics, Roger applies deep futures thinking to global instability. Through the DFI Geopolitics Center for Grand Strategy, he helps decision-makers address the convergence of geopolitics, geoeconomics, and geotechnology.

Born in South Africa and fluent in English and French, Roger has lived in 10 cities across three continents. Consequently, he brings a truly global lens to every engagement. Through keynotes, media appearances, and executive advisory work, he guides leaders through existential pivots. Ultimately, he empowers organisations to build clarity, resilience, and strategic advantage in an unpredictable world.
