Paul served as the Executive Secretary of South Africa’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission, working under President Nelson Mandela and Chair Desmond Tutu. He co-founded the International Centre for Transitional Justice, an organization that works in over 40 countries affected by human rights violations due to conflict and repression.

As an inspirational keynote speaker, Paul Van Zyl focuses on the persistence of human rights violations. He emphasizes the urgent need for justice, particularly in politically sensitive situations like Guantanamo Bay. His unwavering commitment to these issues has sparked new interest and shed light on events often overlooked.

Paul is also the co-founder and CEO of Maiyet, an ethical luxury fashion brand. Maiyet partners with global artisans to promote traditional design and culture. Most recently, Paul co-founded The Conduit, a members’ club dedicated to social change.
