Harrison Ward, also known as Fell Foodie, is an inspirational mental health speaker. He openly shares his personal struggles with depression, suicidal thoughts, alcohol addiction, and obesity. In addition to his speaking, Harrison is a passionate outdoor cook, recreating restaurant-style meals using camping gear in remote locations.
A few years ago, Harrison’s life looked very different. He battled clinical depression since his adolescence, turning to alcohol to cope. At his lowest, he drank over 20 pints daily, smoked constantly, and weighed more than 22 stone. His attempts to medicate only worsened his situation.
In 2016, the end of a relationship and a personal breakdown led him to seek help for the first time. Since that day, Harrison has been sober and has thrown himself into fitness, hiking, and outdoor cooking. He now delivers keynote talks at workplaces, events, and festivals, sharing his journey of recovery and the positive impact of spending time outdoors.
Harrison has been featured in the media many times. He appeared on Channel 5’s Winter on the Farm and baked a cake on the hillside for Dame Mary Berry in the BBC series Love to Cook. His story has been featured in Countryfile Magazine, Men’s Fitness, The Telegraph, Daily Express, Metro, and Waitrose & Partners Weekend.
He is a brand ambassador for Volvo Car UK and Ordnance Survey and was nominated ‘Outdoor Personality of the Year’ by The Great Outdoors Magazine.
