BIO

Belinda Parmar OBE is a leading advocate for diversity, CEO of The Empathy Business, and a Non-Executive Director at the Ministry of Defence. She uses the science of empathy to transform leadership, communication, and workplace culture.

Notably, she pioneered the Global Empathy Index—the first large-scale measure of empathy and inclusion—which appeared in the Harvard Business Review. More recently, she launched the AI-powered Empathy Index. This innovative tool combines sentiment analysis, large language models, and human insight to rank companies on empathy.

In her work with corporations, Belinda applies practical “nudges” to spark an empathy revolution. Her strategies empower organizations to build inclusive cultures rooted in belonging, diversity, and bold leadership.

Furthermore, as Empathy-In-Residence at Barclays, Lloyds, and Centrica, she created Europe’s largest bank’s first-ever Empathy Hub. Her impact extends globally—she was named a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum and took the stage at Davos in 2019.

In 2015, she received an OBE for her contributions to women in technology. Since then, she has earned recognition as a Top 20 Global Public Figure in Diversity (2020) and a Top 20 Diversity Champion (2021).

Academically, she holds degrees in both law and languages. This unique blend of rational and emotional insight drives her ability to create lasting organizational change.

Earlier in her career, Belinda led the Little Miss Geek campaign, supported by forty MPs. The initiative inspired young women to pursue careers in technology—making a bold statement in a male-dominated industry.
